BLUE HORIZONS GARDEN RESORT, TO RE-OPEN
|
GRENADA (Feb.20, 2005) Blue Horizons closed in September 2004 after Hurricane Ivan in order to make the necessary repairs as the resort sustained roof and water damage but no structural damage. “While Hurricane Ivan was not a welcome visitor, we’re taking this opportunity to completely revitalize our resort product with brand new furnishings, a fresh and exciting color scheme, and select structural renovations to enhance the flow of the property,” said Arnold Hopkin, owner of Blue Horizons Garden Resort. Following is an outline of the planned refurbishment:
“While the resort will have a new spruced-up look, it will retain the charming character, informal appeal and picturesque surroundings that have made it a success for over 25 years,” said Hopkin. All design and furnishings will be sourced and handled by Kobi Karp Architecture Interior Design Planning in Miami, FL. Blue Horizons is located four miles north of the airport and less than five miles from the capital city of St. George’s. For more information, contact Blue Horizons Garden Resort at P.O. Box 41, St. George’s, Grenada, West Indies; telephone: (473) 444-4316, fax: (473) 444-2815 |

Along with the name change, our resort will unveil a new logo (incorporating a leaf, flower and bird) and video (which will be placed on our Web site) to support the revamped image. “Renaming our property Blue Horizons Garden Resort more accurately portrays our exceptional location, our vacation experience, and our commitment to environment practices,” . “We’re in close proximity to magnificent Grand Anse Beach just 200 yards, which is actually a lesser distance than if you stayed in certain sprawling properties but our strength is our natural surroundings highlighted by a diverse assortment of tropical flowers including oleander, buttercups and bougainvillea, and 21 different species of tropical birds inhabiting the grounds,” . “Over the past few years, we’ve carved a successful niche for ourselves with divers, adventure travelers and nature lovers who are looking for a charming, informal tropical getaway complemented by affordable accommodations and truly world-class dining,” . The new name change comes on the heels of Blue Horizons Garden Resort achieving successful completion of the Green Globe 21 Benchmarking process, which means the property can now proceed to the next step securing the coveted Green Globe 21 Certification. “Going forward with the Green Globe process demonstrates our commitment to the environment and the type of resort we want Blue Horizons to be so we are really driven with the strongest motivation to preserve what makes us distinct,” . |

A recent step introduced to Green Globe 21 Certification by Green Globe Asia Pacific, Benchmarking is a means by which the operation can assess and improve its environmental performance. Benchmarking uses the 10 key environmental performance areas identified in the Green Globe 21 Standard. This Benchmarking requires the submission of information over a 12-month period about the operation’s environmental and social sustainability performance against a number of indicators such as energy and water consumption, etc. Provided that the operation achieves better than the Benchmarks set for its sector, the operation can proceed to Certification. “We are extremely committed to sustaining the environment because we recognize that our pristine surroundings are what distinguish us and make us a truly special place to vacation. It is also a testament to our exceptional staff for being proactive in establishing and maintaining sound environmental practices.” “Operating an environmentally-conscious property is a way of life for us at Blue Horizons, and we look forward to initiating additional sustainable practices as we seek Green Globe Certification.” Following are examples of environmental practices instituted at Blue Horizons Garden Resort that paved the way for the property achieving the Green Globe Benchmark distinction:
